Tsarevo and Lozenets, picturesque and cozy seaside resort on Bulgaria’s southern coast, have proved hot spots for Russians looking to settle permanently here.

“Russian citizens are most attracted to the cities of Tsarevo and Lozenets among the Bulgarian seaside resorts and each year we have first time visitors becoming permanent residents.“, announced the mayor of Tsarevo municipality, Mr. Georgi Lapchev at a meeting with the Russian ambassador in Bulgaria, Yuriy Isakov.

The far south location of Tsarevo municipality appears to be getting more interest from Russian visitors now, since the opening of the reconstructed road Tsarevo-Ahtopol-Sinemorets-Rezovo makes it easier to access.

"Russians are visiting the far south of Tsarevo not only for the nature, but also for the cultural heritage promoted by the municipality“, said ambassador Isakov at his visit of the local museum in Tsarevo.

In Burgas, the city's mayor Dimitar Nikolov met with the new ambassador of Belarus in Bulgaria, Vladimir Voronkovich.

A total of 120 thousand Belarusian tourists have been on a vacation in Bulgaria this year and 80% of them opted for south coast resorts, mainly Sunny Beach, Sozopol and Primorsko, according to the ambassador.

The ambassador said that there were no problems in regards of travel visa issuing for the Belarusian citizens.

He added:

"As far as I know Bulgaria intends to introduce a 5 year validity period visa regime for Belarusian citizens that will significantly relieve tourists."

Mr. Voronkovich also commented on the visa application charge of EUR 60:

"It is not a big issue, but the same money could have been spend by the Belarusian tourists in the Bulgarian resorts, instead of being collected for visa fees."

Thirty-eight thousand Russian citizens have made real estate purchases in the area of the municipality of Nesebar, according to data of the town hall administration of Burgas.

A lot of Englishmen also own properties in Nesebar, but their number is a small one compared to the many Russians that have made their home there.
