EC Is Asking for more Information about Public Procurement and Concession Rules in Bulgaria
The European Commission has taken action against four countries over their national rules of public procurement and concessions, BNR reported.
Bulgaria's government has approved changes to the rules of organization of the Environment Ministry.
Under the changes approved on Wednesday, the Minister of Environment and Water will have a third deputy, ten experts at the Environment Ministry will be moved to the Ministry of Investment Planning, while the number of officials in charge of public procurement, e-government strategy, and managing Environment Ministry properties will increase.
The total headcount of the Environment Ministry drops from 450 to 436, according to a media statement of the government, as cited by mediapool.bg.
Currently, Environment Minister Iskra Mihaylova has two deputies - Chavdar Georgiev from the Bulgarian Socialist Party, who held the same post during the three-way coalition government, and Din Onbashi from the ethnic Turkish Movement for Rights and Freedoms party (DPS).
The reshuffle is necessary because of the elimination of some functions of certain directorates and the necessity to boost the capacity of others.
The most significant staff cuts are to affect the European and International Projects Directorate due to the finalization of ISPA/Cohesion Fund projects.
