Bulgaria's cabinet has no plans whatsoever to change the VAT rate in the country, stated PM Plamen Oresharski.
"The VAT rate has been periodically discussed since 1994, but in no case has it been changed," said Oresharski in Blagoevgrad, where he met representatives of municipal authorities from the region.
"At least while I am PM, the VAT rate will not change," stated he.
Oresharski brought with him to Blagoevgrad Minister of Environment Iskra Mihaylova and Minister of Defense Angel Naydenov, because according to him local authorities expressed the most interest to talka about investments in the water sectors, as well as about properties no longer used by the army.
The Oresharski cabinet has been facing strong street protests that started in capital Sofia just a few weeks after its May 29 appointment.
With the onset of the holiday month of August, protests have dwindled, but protesters have vowed to return in September.
