Two more Bulgarian right-wing parties, the Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB) and the Union of Democratic Forces (UDF), have rejected future cooperation with the center-right GERB of former PM Boyko Borisov.
In a statement for the Bulgarian National Television (BNT), DSB leader Radan Kanev and UDF leader Bozhidar Lukarski declared that they have no intention to join hands with the center-right party. Their statement followed Borisov’s call for cooperation with the so called Reformist Bloc.
Bulgarian citizens want to form new government, explained Radan Kanev, the leader of DSB party, which has already been included in the Reformist Bloc, a brand new informal coalition of mostly right-wing opposition parties formed during the ongoing anti-government protests in the country.
Kanev commented that Borisov's proposal for cooperation contradicts the Bulgarian citizens’ demand for forming a new ruling parliamentary majority which would not allow murky appointments or media manipulations that marked GERB’s term in office.
“Everybody wants from us a huge political change, not just a majority shuffle”, commented Radan Kanev. He added that in both of the formerly ruling coalition cabinets, mafia structures were in control of the country's economy, healthcare and education sectors.
In a statement, Bozhidar Lukarski confirmed that UDF similarly has no intentions to cooperate with GERB in the next elections in Bulgaria, although the Union is not yet part of the Reformist Bloc. UDF's leader added that he is optimistic for the future of the newly formed entity.
“We cannot take common actions with them due to a number of differences.” announced UDF's leader regarding GERB's calls for cooperation.
In 2009 Democrats for String Bulgaria (DSB) party and Bulgaria's right-wing party Union of Democratic Forces founded the so-called Blue Coalition.
The Reformist Bloc currently consists of the Democrats for Strong Bulgaria party (DSB), the Bulgaria for Citizens Movement of former EU Commissioner Meglena Kuneva, the Greens party, the National Party Freedom and Dignity and the right-wing Blue Unity party.
On Thursday, Kuneva also ruled out any cooperation with GERB.
