Vucic Defies EU Pressure, Will Attend Moscow’s Victory Day Parade
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has confirmed his intention to attend the Victory Day parade in Moscow on May 9
Serbia has approached former IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn about the possibility of him joining the government in an advisory role, according to international media.
"We spoke very briefly about a possibility of cooperation," Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksander Vucic has told B92.
Vucic has clarified that Strauss-Kahn "will certainly not be a minister, but he could be an adviser" and help the government "deal with public debt".
Vucic said that the accusations against the former IMF head were a "problem of some other states," not Serbia's.
Strauss-Kahn, a professor of economics, was minister of finance and industry in France and later served as the director of the IMF from 2007 until 2011 when he resigned after being accused of sexually assaulting a hotel maid in New York.
Criminal charges against him over the matter were dropped by US authorities, but other allegations of sexual improprieties followed, the latest chapter being the announcement of his prosecution last week.
