The former Member of the Parliament from the Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria party, GERB, Vyara Petrova, announced Wednesday she was calling it quits with the formation.

Petrova, ex MP from Burgas Region, informed she made the decision after she saw her name in the infamous notebook of the former Chair of Bulgaria's Commission on Prevention and Ascertainment of Conflict of Interest (CPACI), Filip Zlatanov.

"After I saw my name next to an order: "to hit on her," I realized that I no longer wish to be associated with such party and politics," she said, adding she applied for a cancellation of her membership several days ago.

Petrova left the Parliament at the end of last year, when the center-right GERB was still in power, to be investigated for conflict of interests.

"I have described in detail my motives to leave the party; a party I and many others joined 6 years ago with the idea of just, honest, and open rule. And I personally endured the negative outcome; I saw what happened," she stated.

There were three tipoffs against her, combined in one – conflict of interests committed by her husband, by a company owned by her mother, and the last one was a request for a probe in her activities, submitted by Petrova herself.

Petrova, who was a member of the Parliamentary Social Committee, was accused of arranging EU financing for her husband in pressuring the Karnobat Labor Bureau to grant his private company free vouchers to be used for training of employees.

The second tipoff involved the Center for Professional Training at the Association for Encouragement of Employment in the Burgas Region, which is owned by Petrova's mother.

Another Burgas MP from the left-wing Coalition for Bulgaria, led by the Bulgarian Socialist Party, BSP, Atanas Zafirov, submitted the tipoffs in November 2012.

Zlatanov had explained the delay in the hearing with having to examine all three of them.

Zafirov now informs that just this Tuesday, 9 months later, he has received CPACI's decision exonerating Petrova.

On July 23, an appeals court upheld Zlatanov's dismissal.
