Participants in the protest rally in support of the Bulgarian cabinet Oresharski have gathered for the 25th day in a row Sunday in the park of the National Palace of Culture.

About 100 were in attendance.

People there are continuing to collect signatures for two petitions – in support of the government and for the impeachment of President, Rosen Plevneliev, as they believe he has violated the Constitution by backing the anti-government rallies. The number of signatures has reached 200 000 and 17 000 respectively.

In addition to the two petitions, the government supporters informed they have filed a claim with the City Hall against the anti-government rallies for public order violations on grounds the evening ones were too laud and noisy and people living on their route have complained.

Recently, municipal councilors from the left-wing Bulgarian Socialist Party, BSP, issued a declaration asking Mayor, Yordanka Fandakova, to ban the protests.

Fandakova, who was elected on the ticket of the formerly-ruling center-right Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria party, GERB, has so far firmly rejected any such requests.

The series of the peaceful, but mass and relentless anti-government protests in Bulgaria was triggered by the scandalous appointment of media mogul Delyan Peevski as Chair of the State Agency for National Security (DANS).

Although the appointment was revoked, the people went on to demand that the Socialist-endorsed cabinet of Prime Minister, Plamen Oresharski, resign collectively over ties with oligarchs.

Despite the protests, the Bulgarian Parliament elected Friday another controversial individual, Vladimir Pisanchev, to lead DANS.

Bulgarians plan to take once again to the streets of the capital Sofia Sunday to demand the resignation of the country's government for a 38th day in a row.
