Heartbroken parents of five young Bulgarians, who lost their lives in a horrific car crash, were hardly able to stand on their feet as they bid farewell to their loved ones.
Four young men, between the ages of 18 and 22, and a 16-year-old girl perished in the crash, which occurred near the town of Elin Pelin, in Sofia region, on Tuesday morning.
The young people have gotten into a BMW from the parking lot of the local stadium half hour after midnight to test the powerful engine. The car was driven by its owner.
According to unconfirmed reports, he tried to avoid hitting a stray dog on the road, lost control, and crashed in a concrete wall. No other vehicle has been involved.
Borislav Efremov, Viliana Ivanova, Stanley Yonev, Ivan Ushkolov and Miroslav Toshev were buried next to one another in white coffins at the local cemetery.
Ivan’s parents were in deep shock.
“I am coming with you,” his father cried over the body of his son as the other mourners wailed in the packed church.
Throughout the funeral, the parents did not stop crying. The hardest moment was when their children had to be laid in the ground.
Ivan’s father lay his head and arms over his child’s coffin and refused to be pulled away. But it was time for him to let go, his eyes wild with grief.
