A paper Olympic torch made by a six-year-old British boy to raise money for charity is heading to Bulgaria on the latest leg of its round-the-world trip, BBC reported.

Logan McKerrow, from Chard, had the idea in May 2012 after seeing real torches for sale on the internet.

His torch has since been bought and re-sold a number of times, by people hoping to help him raise money for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.

The 48th torch bearer is the Great Britain Deaf Women's football squad.

The squad is flying out to the 2013 Deaflympics in Sofia on Monday.

Kerry McKerrow, Logan's mum, said she had "confirmation" from Mark Cooper, CEO of the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf, Logan's torch will be "incorporated somehow" in the opening ceremony on 26 July.

When the torch returns on 5 August it will go to the latest auction's winning bidder who is from Luxembourg.

"[He] has kindly agreed to swap his torch bearer place so Logan's torch can go to the Deaflympics and he will then become the 49th torch bearer," Mrs McKerrow said.

The torch has so far travelled almost 8,000 miles (12.8km) across the UK, has journeyed from Land's End to John O' Groats and made an appearance on Wimbledon's centre court during this year's tournament.

The torch, Logan and his family have now raised about GBP 32,000 for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, which marked its 30th anniversary in 2012.

The family's overall target is GBP 50,000.

The money raised has paid for one puppy - called Logan - to be trained and work for a family.
