Bulgaria's ethnic Turkish party Movement for Rights and Freedoms, DPS, has not discussed options for forming a second government within the term in office of the 42nd National Assembly, according to DPS leader Lyutvi Mestan.
In a Monday interview for the Bulgarian National Radio (BNR), Mestan rejected claims of his deputy, Hristo Biserov, who told BNR on Sunday that a new Cabinet within the current Parliament's term in office was possible.
"I categorically declare that DPS has not discussed the possibility of a second Cabinet under the 42th General Assembly, and the issue will not be put up for discussion. We believe that, taking into account the vote of Bulgarian citizens, who ousted the GERB government from power, the only possible government is the one already formed " Sega daily cited Lyutvi Mestan as saying.
Mestan warned against mixing the demand of former Prime Minister and GERB leader Boyko Borisov for an expert government with the participation of GERB during the term in office of the 42nd National Assembly with the hypothesis voiced by Hristo Biserov that there could be different cabinets under one Parliament.
Mestan noted that DPS was cautious about potential talks with GERB on overcoming the political crisis.
"If Borisov means that we should agree with his scenario for snap elections, this cannot be the basis of serious dialogue. In this line of thought, I responsibly declare that we are ready to engage in dialogue, but we need to be clear about the goal we would be pursuing by doing this," Mestan explained.
