Bulgaria is fully committed to eventually become part of the eurozone, stated Bulgarian PM Plsmen Oresharski Monday.

"Bulgaria will one day enter the eurozone, but at the present moment this is not sought after at all costs," stated the Bulgarian PM.

Oresharski spoke at the honorary degree awarding ceremony of renowned US economist Steve Hanke at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

Hanke is one of the principal designers of the currency board, which after a local financial collapse in the late 1990s pegged the Bulgarian lev to the Deutsche Mark and then to the euro.

In his speech, Oresharski stressed that Bulgaria has no intentions whatsoever to give up the board.

He added that amid ongoing anti-goverment protests, his cabinet is fully committed to carry out is policies for attracting investments and boosting growth.
