Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev will hold extensive consultations with the parliamentary and extra-parliamentary parties in connection to the ongoing protests in the country this week.

"The solution lies in the joint work of many institutions in order to address the number of problems that people point out and to reach a decision," the president told the media, adding that no one has given a clear signal so far on how they will react to the demands of the protesters.

Plevneliev said that by the end of the week he will meet and listen to many members of the Bulgarian political parties in search of national consensus. "I expect clear commitments to be taken. I will do everything possible to find a solution," the president assured.

He expressed hope that the consultations will be carried out in a manner different from the atmosphere of the last Consultative National Security Council last week.

The leader of the nationalist Ataka party, Volen Siderov, sabotaged the meeting by attacking Plevneliev with a number of accusations and thus preventing him from officially opening the Council.

Plevneliev said that people put a barrier in front of the politicians and that this barrier should not be crossed. "This is the threshold of morality and integrity, beyond which there is intolerable outrage," said the president, adding that no matter which party rules in future, people would not allow it to cross this barrier. "Anyone who infuriates Bulgarian voters and crosses the line that should not be crossed will receive similar treatment," he predicted.

The head of the state said than the choice of Siderov for the head of the Parliamentary Committee on Ethics is as scandalous as that the appointment of Delyan Peevski for the head of the National Security Agency.

When asked to comment on the fears that the protests could be radicalized, Plevneliev expressed the hope that they will continue to happen, as now, in a democratic way – with character, mood, and kindness. He said that he is proud of the way the protests occur now.
