Bulgarian PM Plamen Oresharski met Saturday in Sofia with Romanian counterpart Victor Ponta to discuss matters of mutual interest.
Ponta is in Sofia to take part in the annual council of the Party of European Socialists, which this time over takes place at the National Palace of Culture in Bulgaria's capital.
The two neighborly PMs' meeting on the sidelines of the council was the second in two weeks, after June 14 they unveiled the new bridge linking Vidin and Calafat, the so-called Danube Bridge 2.
"This is our second meeting in such a short time, and we already negotiated to hold a high profile summit in Varna this fall," stated Bulgarian PM Oresharski after the meeting.
He said that the two countries have pledged to work together to better battle hurdles that they both face.
"In particular, we commented on our Schengen accession and decided to coordinate our positions in order to have a better standing in front of our EU partners," said Oresharski.
Bulgaria and Romania's normal accession to the Schengen area has been blocked by a number of EU member states which have cited alleged problems with corruption and organized crime as reasons for their reluctance.
Saturday Bulgarian PM Oresharski also revealed that he discussed with his Romanian counterpart Ponta a number of joint energy projects, such as Nabucco West, and the linking of Bulgaria's and Romania's electricity and natural gas networks.
