Spain Nabs 8 Jihadist Suspects

Spanish authorities have arrested 8 people suspected in recruiting jihadist fighters to go to Syria and elsewhere.

Those detained in the raids on Friday morning are accused of being part of a network linked to al-Qaeda, the BBC informs.

They are suspected of funding, indoctrinating and facilitating travel for would-be fighters.

Police say the network was based in the Spanish North African enclave of Ceuta and the Moroccan city of Fnideq.

All the detainees are Spanish citizens, according to Spanish media.

The Spanish Interior Ministry said in a statement that “dozens of people, some minor, had left both Ceuta and Moroccan territory under the cover of this terrorist network.”
