Bulgaria’s National Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology has put a total of 9 regions under “Code Orange” on Tuesday, as heavy downpours and thunderstorms can be expected.

Code Orange has been declared for the regions of Montana, Vratsa, Lovech, Gabrovo, Sofia (proper), Sofia (district), Pazardzhik, Plovdiv and Blagoevgrad.

Code orange means intense weather situations with potential damage, injuries and casualties.

Code Yellow due to downpours will be effective in 10 regions: Vidin, Kyustendil, Pernik, Smolyan, Kardzhali Haskovo, Stara Zagora, Veliko Tarnovo, Pleven and Ruse.

Code yellow means potentially dangerous weather, where the forecast is not for unusual meteorological events, but requires people to exercise caution.
