Bulgaria's Parliament has approved the merger of the Interior Ministry's Chief Directorate for Combating Organized Crime (GDBOP) into the State Agency for National Security (DANS).
The move was approved at the second reading of the Bill Amending and Supplementing the State Agency for National Security Act on Friday.
The MPs of center-right party Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB) registered and left the Parliament's plenary hall immediately after that.
Upon walking out of the hall, former Interior Minister and Deputy Chair of GERB, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, told journalists that the proposed amendments would harm Bulgaria's national security.
Mihail Mikov, Parliament Chair, commented that the behavior of GERB MPs was that of primary school students.
On Thursday, former Prime Minister and GERB leader threatened that the party would boycott parliament sittings.
Borisov stated his group will leave the Parliament and will focus on being among common people and meeting with voters.
He reminded GERB's demands to declare the results of the May 12 early elections null and void.
He explained that GERB MPs would show up in Parliament without registering to vote and/or participate in debates, criticizing the work of teh 42nd National Assembly in the hallways in interviews for the media.
