Serbian Ambassador to Turkey, Dusan Spasojevic, has been recalled from the post for violating the law of diplomatic service.

Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ivan Mrkic, has dismissed Spasojevic, after he gave an interview for the Belgrade-based B92 radio, the Serbian National News Agency Tanjug reported.

Under Serbian law, ambassadors are banned from issuing statements for the country's media.

According to Serbian State TV, Spasojevic's term expired several months ago, but he has been allowed to remain at the post until the end of June as he has requested, citing family obligations.

Tanjug informs the diplomat has commented on the unrest in Turkey for the media on several occasions, despite warnings he was breaching the law.

Meanwhile, protests in Turkey against the authoritarian and Islamic-leaning policy of the Turkish government continued Wednesday night into Thursday morning for a sixth straight day.
