Retired midfielder Stiliyan Petrov has expressed readiness to return as a player in Bulgaria’s men national football team if he manages to get back in shape.
A charity football match under the motto "Thank you, Stan" starts Sunday at 3.15 pm at the Vasil Levski National Stadium in Sofia.
On Sunday, Aston Villa's Old Stars will play against Bulgarian Legends as part of the "Support Stan" campaign to raise money for the treatment of children diagnosed with leukemia.
Villa's squad, managed by managed by Bruce Rioch, will include former favorites like Mark Draper, Lee Hendrie, Tony Daley, Mark Kinsella, and Alan Wright, while the Bulgarian team, managed by Dimitar Penev, will bring together football stars Hristo Stoichkov, Dimitar Berbatov, Martin Petrov, Radostin Kishishev, Krasimir Balakov, Nasko Sirakov, Luboslav Penev, etc.
Proceeds from ticket sales will go to the treatment of Bulgarian children suffering from leukemia.
Tickets for the fundraising event cost BGN 10 and the match will be broadcast live on the Bulgarian National Television (BNT), according to reports of bTV.
