Bulgarian Court Orders 37-Year-Old under EAW Taken into Custody

The Plovdiv District Court has ordered 37-year-old Shenol Sh, who has a European Arrest Warrant (EAW) issued against him, taken into custody.

The 37-year-old has an EAW issued against him by the Prosecutor's Office in Bonn and he is to be investigated for fraud, participation in an organized crime ring and document forgery.

The man and his accomplices signed sale contracts for light commercial vehicles through bank loans taken using fake salary slips and ID papers.

The crime ring bought four luxury vehicles worth EUR 138 693 through the scheme and the cars were taken to Turkey to be sold there.

The court ruled that the EAW was valid, the statute of limitations had not expired, and there was a risk that the suspect could go into hiding and commit a crime.

The ruling is not final and can be appealed before the Plovdiv Appellate Court.
