Bulgaria’s former Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov, who is currently being questioned by the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office, is to be subjected to one more interrogation on Tuesday.

Tsvetanov has been interrogated for nearly three hours now. It is believed that he is questioned in connection with the charges pressed against Bulgarian police's anti-organized crime unit head, Stanimir Florov.

On Friday, Florov, who has close ties with Tsvetanov, was charged with large-scale bribery by the country's prosecuting authority.

Once his first interrogation for the day is over, Tsvetanov will be questioned by the Specialized Prosecutor's Office in Sofia. Local media have reported that this interrogation will be in connection with the growing wiretapping scandal in the country.

On March 28, Sergey Stanishev, leader of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), submitted a tipoff to Chief Prosecutor, Sotir Tsatsarov, about illegal wiretapping of politicians, businessmen and magistrates which had taken place during Tsvetanov's term in office.

Last Monday, in reporting the results from the probe, Tsatsarov stated that two thirds of Stanishev's information has been confirmed. Tsatsarov also explained that important information related to the case had been deleted in a bid to sabotage the probe, adding the prosecutors would try to recover the lost data.

The Chief Prosecutor assured the probe was continuing and Tsvetanov's work and involvement will also be probed.
