A 3.2-magnitude earthquake was registered Saturday afternoon near the southeastern Bulgarian town of Topolovgrad, according to reports of the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC).

According to the Geophysical Institute of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS), as cited by Darik radio, the quake measured 3.1 on the Richter scale and its epicenter was between Topolovgrad and the villages of Chukarovo and Sinapovo.

BAS researchers reported that the jolt had been registered at around 5.30 pm on Saturday at a depth of 15.7km.

According to the EMSC, the quake measured 3.2 on the Richter scale, its epicenter was located 15km north of Topolovgrad and 33km southwest of Yambol, and it struck at a depth of 10km.

No injuries or material damage has been reported so far.

Over the past week, a total of 7 light earthquakes were registered in the region of Topolovgrad.

The jolts measured 2.3 – 3.5 on the Richter scale and caused no injuries or material damage.
