Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev will receive Thursday representatives of the pre-electoral mission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).

The six-member PACE delegation, led by Andreas Gross (Switzerland, SOC), will arrive in Bulgaria on a two-day mission to assess the electoral framework and campaign prior to the early parliamentary elections scheduled for 12 May.

During the two-day visit to Bulgaria (April 4-5), the PACE delegates will also hold meetings with caretaker Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Marin Raykov, the Chair of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), representatives of the parliamentary groups and of the parties and coalitions standing for election, civil society and the media.

A full 21-member delegation from the Assembly is to return to Bulgaria to observe the voting before making a final assessment.
