Austria's Minister of the Interior, Johanna Mikl-Leitner, has sent a letter to former Bulgarian counterpart, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, to congratulate him on a job well-done.
The Bulgarian Trud (Labor) daily reports Sunday that Mikl-Leitner has praised Tsvetanov for contributing in person with his future-oriented thinking and decisiveness to the high-quality partnership and friendship between Austria and Bulgaria.
She expresses her gratitude for the above and voices regret he had withdrawn from the posts of Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria.
On February 21, the Parliament approved the resignation of PM Boyko Borisov's government of the Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria party, GERB, amidst unprecedented since 1997 protest rallies against sky-high utility bills, monopolies, stagnation, corruption and wide-spread poverty, which later turned into a civil unrest and political demands.
Tsvetanov was Deputy PM and Interior Minister in Borisov's government. He is also the Deputy Chairman of GERB.
Snap general election is to be held May 12, just two months ahead of the regular date in July.
President, Rosen Plevneliev, installed a caretaker government on March 12.
