The three records were set in southeastern town of Ahtopol on the Black Sea with 21 degrees Celsius, Oryahovo in northern Bulgaria with 20.7 C, and the city of Plovdiv in the south with 19.8 C.

The day also saw an evening of the 21,7 C temperature record from 1937 in the northern Danube city of Ruse.

Temperatures were unusually high across southern Bulgaria, with lower temperatures recorded in the west of the country.

The highest temperature Sunday was measured in the southern city of Stara Zagora - 23 C.

Warm weather is expected to linger for most of the coming week, informed Bulgaria's National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology.
