Bulgaria's Trakiya Highway can be completed in time for the June 1 deadline, stated resigned Bulgarian Minister of Regional Development Lilyana Pavlova Sunday.
After the resignation of the Bulgarian cabinet led by PM Boyko Borisov on February amid populart protests against stagnation in Bulgaria, it was feared that the political crisis will have an adverse effect on infrastructure projects carried out in Bulgaria.
Speaking for the National Radio Sunday, Pavlova tried to allay those worries.
"In the past week the cabinet conducted a number of meetings with contractors working on the project," said she.
"Those final 35 km of the highway are very important so we wanted to ascertain that everything is in order," added the minister.
Pavlova admitted that there was some delay in the project due to relations between contractors and subcontractors, but stressed that the highway can be completed by the end of May.
Bulgaria's Trakiya Highway goes west-east, connecting capital Sofia with second-largest city of Plovdiv and fourth-largest city of Burgas, located on the Black Sea.
