Weekend Weather Alert: Bulgaria to Experience Sudden Temperature Drop and Thunderstorms
This weekend, Bulgaria is set to experience a dramatic shift in weather, bidding farewell to the recent heat wave
Weather Sunday is not favorable for hiking and skiing in Bulgaria's high mountains, announced Bulgaria's Mountain Rescue Service.
Temperatures are above zero at almost all locations an a strong melting process has started, increasing the risk of avalanches, especially in the afternoon.
Softer snow has also worsened conditions for skiing, said the rescuers.
In addition, it is raining at some locations, including Aleko in the Vitosha Mountain near Sofia.
It is possible that with a drop of temperatures, rain will turn to snow.
Hikers and skiers are asked to exercise the appropriate caution.
For years, Bulgaria’s Ministry of Environment and Water kept from the public that the air quality monitoring system in Sofia was compromised and failed to accurately report pollution levels
