Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov was not a secret police informant during the 1990s, according to his former girlfriend, top banker Tsvetelina Borislavova.

Borislavova has described the recent claims that Borisov used to be secret informant as "made-up tensions."

She has told the PIK news agency that she was well aware of Borisov's activities in the past and that the allegations about him "are not logical."

Bulgarian whistleblowing website Bivol.bg recently released a document revealing that Borisov was recruited in the past as a secret agent of the Central Services for Combatting Organized Crime, CSBOP.

Borisov was allegedly recruited as informant over his close ties with the mafia. A 1997 file, which refers to Borisov under the codename "Buddha," notes his "criminal orientation" and suggests "clarifying connections of the subject with people and businesses linked to criminal activities."
