Bulgaria's parliament cut short the term of Monika Panayotova, MP from the ruling party, as she is heading to join the European Parliament.

The reshuffle comes after Emil Stoyanov, who was elected MEP on the civil quota of the ruling GERB party, unexpected quit the European Parliament.

Stoyanov requested in the middle of November that his term is cut short, citing personal and professional reasons – desire to spend more time with his family, who is in Bulgaria, and dedicate more efforts to the development of the Evropa TV channel that he founded.

He held the fourth position on GERB party ticket during the elections for European Parliament members in 2009 and was one of the newly-elected MEPs.

Now Panayotova has been elected to replace him.

Panayotova served as head of the Committee on European Affairs and European Funds Control in Bulgaria's parliament.

She was elected MP in the summer elections in 2009 on the ticket of the currently ruling center-right party GERB.

Monika Panayotova, together with Boris Grozdanov and Krassimir Velchev secured the three majority MP seats in the capital Sofia.
