Iran has sent defense experts to North Korea in a move to strengthen strategic ties between the two countries.

Early September Iran and North Korea signed an agreement for steeping up military and research cooperation.

According to Japanese agency Kyodo, Iran has sent 4 Ministry of Defense experts to work in a military site some 85 km off North Korea's border wth China.

The mission took place in the second half of October and is alleged to target boosting cooperation in the development of missiles.

The news comes at a time when North Korea declared an intention to fire a new missile in the period December 10-22 to coincide with the anniversary of the passing of former leader Kim Jong-il.
