Danube Bridge 2 Walk Tops Bulgarian PM Busy Agenda

Bulgarian Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, who just returned from Albania, has a very busy schedule Wednesday, including a Cabinet meeting and the opening of several facilities across the country.
At 9 am, along with Health Minister, Desislava Atanasova, Borisov will launch the fully renewed nuclear medicine unit at the Saint Ivan Rilski hospital. The project for the cost of BGN 2.4 M has been co-financed by the EU and the hospital.
After that, the PM will head to downtown Sofia to lead the regularly scheduled meeting of the Council of Ministers, and immediately upon its conclusion will attend the signing of a contract for providing financial assistance in the amount of over BGN 31 M for broadband internet access for the needs of the electronic government.
After 12 pm, Borisov, in the company of the EU Regional Policy Commissioner Johannes Hahn, will inspect the progress in the construction of the connector between the Hemus highway and the Yana road junction. The project is financed by the EU Transport operational program in the amount of BGN 32.2 M without Value Added Tax, VAT. The segment is part of the trans-European transport corridor and is 8.46-km-long.
The culmination is scheduled for 2:30 pm, when the Prime Minister, his Romanian counterpart, Victor Ponta, and Hahn will be the first to officially walk through the currently finalized Danube Bridge 2.
The final section of the bridge was finished last week and the entire construction between the Bulgarian and the Romanian Danube shores is now connected. The infrastructure was completed at the end of August.
The only finishing touches left are the hydro-isolation and the asphalt cover, which are expected to conclude by the end of the year, pending weather conditions. If temperatures fall, the works will be postponed for the spring. The Spanish contractor FCC informs that in order to do the above two, temperatures must be higher than 5C.
The budget for the entire project is EUR 225 145 000, while the Bulgarian State participates with EUR 60 100 000 and Romania with EUR 48 M.
