Bulgaria is among the 12 countries bidding to host the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in 2012, FIFA has confirmed.
The Balkan country has never hosted a major beach soccer tournament so far.
The other countries running to host the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in 2015 are Brazil , Russia, Ecuador, Switzerland, Mauritius, France, Portugal, El Salvador , Thailand, Senegal and Hungary.
Hailing from five different continents, it is a record number of bidders for the event.
This World Cup is held every two years and 2015 will be the eighth edition. 16 teams will participate in the final competition and one stadium will be required. The duration of the competition is approximately 10 to 12 days.
The host will be announced in May 2013.
