Bulgaria's Parliament has adopted amendments enabling the exchange of information on tax matters between the National Revenue Agency (NRA) and its partnering services in the other EU Member States.

The amendments to the Tax and Social Insurance Procedure Code setting out the procedures for the exchange of tax information between revenue authorities passed second reading Thursday.

Bulgaria's NRA will be able to receive data on people's taxable incomes abroad, while its partnering revenue authorities will be able to obtain information about the incomes of their nationals in Bulgaria.

The legal amendments also provide an opportunity for electronic data exchange.

Krasimir Stefanov, NRA Executive Director, is to issue an ordinance for the establishment of a unit specialized in contacting tax authorities in EU Member States, which will be authorized to demand and provide such information.
