Anick Van Calster has replaced Marc Michielsen as the new Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to the Republic of Bulgaria.
"It is an honor for me to represent Belgium in Bulgaria, and I am looking forward to further strengthen the perfect relations between Belgium and Bulgaria, and their people," Ambassador Van Calster told BNR on Tuesday.
Anick Van Calster was born in 1969 in Kortrijk, Belgium. She has two Master's degrees from the University of Leuven and the University of Brussels.
She worked for the Belgian Foreign Trade Council before joining Belgium's Foreign Ministry in 1997.
Van Calster served in the Belgian diplomatic mission in Beirut, Lebanon, in 1999-2003; in 2003-2006 she was in charge of economic and social affairs at the Belgian Royal Court, and until 2008 she was an advisor of Belgian Princess Mathilde.
Between August 2008 and July 2012, Anick Van Claster served as the Belgian Ambassador in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Van Calster is married, and has three children.
