The Roma slum in the Bulgaria's capital Sofia "Lyulin" district has been demolished.

The news was reported by the Bulgarian Pressa (Press) daily, writing the demolishing started Friday and all trailers and run-down houses have been removed.

Pressa remind that in the last 14 years, the slum on Europa (Europe) boulevard "greeted" visitors of Sofia arriving from Western Europe through Serbia.

The last horse carts left Saturday.

Reportedly, the Roma welcomed the news because 76 families have received municipal housing in apartments or houses in "Lyulin," according to District Mayor, Milko Mladenov.

Some families have been sent back to their hometowns in Bulgaria.

The City Hall is yet to decide what to do with the free land plot.
