A Bulgarian device has been produced that will automatically call 112 in case of a traffic accident, local media say.

The device will directly send information about the vehicle's position, its direction and the time of the accident to the common emergency call number.

The nearest emergency care facility will be then contacted so that an ambulance could be sent.

The device will be presented at the "Digital Agenda for Europe" conference in Sofia on Thursday. The conference will be officially opened by EU Commissioner responsible for the Digital Agenda Neelie Kroes and Bulgarian Transport Minister Ivaylo Moskovski.

The new device may help Bulgaria enter the e-call public safety project of the European Commission, Moskovski has told the Bulgarian National Television.

Moskovski hopes that Bulgaria will be among the first five EU countries to implement the project.

He pointed out that the new device will cost less than EUR 50.
