The French gendarmerie from the city of Montpellier has detained a group of 3 Bulgarians that copied data of banking cards with skimming devices.

The group has allegedly already managed to drain away as much as EUR 100,000 from various accounts, reports French edition Midi Libre.

The skimmers copied data from cards and built fake ones that were later used in the USA and Canada.

The three were detained by French authorities in co-operation with the Bulgarian police, who offered them information about the travel of one from the group from Bulgaria to France.

He was detained while installing a skimming device at an ATM in the city of Le Mans.

The other two have been detained in the hotel where their accomplice was residing. The three will face trial later this week.
