Fulham's new striker Dimitar Berbatov has pointed out the importance of his relationship with coach Martin Jol for his successful start at the club.

"If I feel that the coach is trusting in my ability then I can do special things on the pitch," Berbatov commented after Fulham's convincing 3:0 win against West Bromwich Albion.

The prolific forward said he was happy to get his first game in a long time.

"I just want to play every game and when I do this and I'm healthy with no injuries then the supporters can see the way I play football."

"I know the coach, he trusts me, he trusts my ability. I feel good if the coach trusts the way I play and you saw today the way I performed on the pitch."

Berbatov and Jol worked together during the Bulgarian forward's stay at White Hart Lane.

The 31-year-old scored two goals and put on some impressive display during his first home game as Fulham player on Saturday.
