The Bulgarian sailors, who were arrested in August during a raid of a cocaine-loaded ship, wish to be tried in Spain.
The news was reported Thursday by their relatives who gave a special press conference.
The daughter of the cook of the Saint Nikolay ship further informed that the conditions at the prison, where they are being held, are good; they are treated well; just two share one cell; healthcare, medications, if needed, a translator, and a phone to reach relatives, have been provided to all.
Many of them have met with the Bulgarian Consul in Madrid and are in constant touch with the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry.
The relatives, including the cook's daughter, all reiterated that the entire crew are professionals with long careers, and can in no way be suspected in knowingly organizing and transporting illegal drugs.
The latest wish comes on the heels of media reports that the sailors hoped to be tried at home.
On August 13, Spanish authorities nabbed 31 people, including 21 Bulgarians, after seizing 3 tons of cocaine brought from South America on a ship caught off the southern coast.
The operation codenamed Cartel has been carried out jointly by GDBOP, the French police, the US DEA and the UK COKA.
It was also reported that the ship, sailing under Bulgarian flag, has been intercepted and traced for two days and two nights by an ATR-42 aircraft of the Italian Finance Police.
