The Macedonian press in commenting Saturday statements by Bulgaria's President Rosen Plevneliev and Foreign Affairs Minister Nikolay Mladenov that their country will not allow tampering with its history.

The office of Macedonia's President has already given a cool answer to Plevneliev's proposal that the two countries build a monument to Bulgarian writer Dimitar Talev in the Macedonian town of Prilep where he was born, reports Macedonian paper Dnevnik.

Friday the Bulgarian President had stated that Bulgaria will not tolerate anything that it sees as encroachment on its history by its neighbors.

He went on to add that he had already constructive talks to that end with President Ivanov, and the Talev monument will be a test to Macedonia's good will.

"There is no such initiative. The two presidents have talked, but not about building a monument for Talev," Ivanov's office has stated, according to Dnevnik.

Given Bulgarian Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikolay Mladenov's statement earlier this week that Bulgaria will draw red lines with its neighbors, Macedonia should be prepared for more pressure, write Macedonian analysts.
