Bulgaria: Bulgaria's Opposition: Lacking Rich Forester

Bulgaria's new political season has started inertly and foreseeably, much like a new season of "The Bold and The Beautiful" - but without Rich Forester.

Bulgaria's ruling party GERB is re-imposing its infrastructural aspirations as the storyline's main motif but the opposition isn't up to the task of creating intrigue.

Sergey Stanishev, Bulgarian Socialist Party leader, made blurry promises for "clear and unconditional opposition to GERB's outrages".

Ethnic Turkish party DPS demanded that the Parliament adjourn, renouncing the opposition's priorities as meaningless since they wouldn't be noted.

The center-right Democrats for Strong Bulgaria completely "gave up on the government", deeming it useless to criticize GERB.

The non-parliamentary NMSP only asked the rulers for "common sense", ex-EU Commissioner Meglena Kuneva kept quiet, and Veselin Mareshki, a controversial Varna-based tycoon, is seeking to bandwagon with the top political power before the 2013 elections.

Thus, in episode 6384 of Bulgarian's political reality the "opposition" gave up the proactive antagonist's part, leaving the majority to pave its "highway" to new election victories.

Abdication from parliamentary responsibility means unreliability and weakness. And weak and unreliable actors drop out of future seasons, the metaphor not being limited to soap operas...
