Sergey Stanishev, ex PM and chair of the opposition Bulgarian Socialist Party, was devastatingly critical of the ruling center-right party GERB and Cabinet of Boyko Borisov at the first fall session of the Bulgarian Parliament.

"GERB's motto is, "Don't look at what I'm doing, listen to what I'm saying!", stated Stanishev, who was Bulgaria's PM in the three-way coalition government of 2005-2009.

He accused the ruling party and the Borisov Cabinet of using populism as they have recently started to talk about increasing people's income level.

"You froze the income of the Bulgarian citizens for more than three years, which means impoverishment. Let's tell the entire truth – you spent BGN 4 B from the fiscal reserve, and accrued BGN 5 B in debt in order to fill the loopholes in the state budget," Stanishev declared, addressing GERB in Parliament.

In his words, fewer and fewer Bulgarians tend to believe the promises of the government because they contradict the harsh reality in the country.

"27% of the Bulgarians would leave the country at the first opportunity. One-third of all Bulgarians don't wish to live in a Bulgaria ruled by Borisov and GERB. Isn't this what you were supposed to stop," he asked the Parliamentary majority.

According to the Socialist leader, the GERB party and PM Boyko Borisov are trying to create a "virtual reality" and to "make fools of the Bulgarians".

In his words, the major priority for the Bulgarian Socialist Party is to be a "clear and decisive opposition" to the government of Borisov and GERB.
