The Yugoslav war crimes tribunal has rejected a motion by former Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic for a retrial.

Last month Karadzic asked for a new trial over his war crimes and genocide citing numerous flaws in the work of UN prosecutors. Karadzic claims that prosecutors were late in disclosing evidence favorable to his case and he has not received at least 400 documents to study on time, RIA Novosti has reminded.

In a written statement on Monday, judges said that repeated evidence disclosure violations have "reflected badly on the prosecution, its knowledge of what it holds in its evidence collections and its approach to disclosure," but have not infringed Karadzic's right to a fair trial.

In June, the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY) acquitted Radovan Karadzic of 1 of the 2 genocide counts he faced.

However, the judges refused to clear him of 10 other charges, including his other genocide count that concerns his involvement in the 1995 Srebrenica massacre of 8,000 Muslim men.
