Prices of fuel in Bulgaria are expected to hit new record highs in the first week of September.

After price of the most common fuel, the A95 gasoline reached the unprecedented BGN 2.78 per liter and after the hike in the price of diesel, now the cheapest fuel - liquid petroleum gas, LPG known as propane-butane, will go up to BGN 1.36 per liter, according to the forecast of experts, cited by the Bulgarian Trud (Labor) daily.

They ground the forecast on the fact that one day ago the wholesale fuel prices went up by 4%. Gasoline and diesel are expected to reach new record highs by the end of the week as well.

The most common expatiation is once again the increase of oil prices on global markets by 10% and Russia upping on September 1 its export duty on oil.

The hike, however, coincides with the long, 4-day weekend over the Bulgarian Unification Day, something that has become traditional in recent years when prices always go up around holidays.

The forecast is seriously increasing the likelihood of taxi cab prices going up by at least BGN 0.20 per kilometer, since they use mostly LPG.
