The relocation of Bulgarian State institutions and State servants began on September 1 despite employees' discontent and as promised by its mastermind, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Simeon Djankov.
The first relocated institution is the tourism unit of Bulgaria's Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism, which has already moved from Sofia to the country's second largest city of Plovdiv. As of Monday, September 3 2012, all hotel owners and tour operators are to receive their registration and categorization documents on 1 "Zhelezarska" street in downtown Plovdiv.
Because of the move, the issuing and handing of these documents has been suspended from August 28 to 31. All new phones will be published on the official page of the Economy Ministry on Monday.
Speaking in an interview for the Bulgarian Trud (Labor) daily, the Deputy Minister in Charge of Tourism, Ivo Marinov, explained recently that registration and categorization applications still can be filed in the capital Sofia.
The cost of the relocation remains unknown with Djankov assuaging that it will end up being just several tens of thousands of BGN.
The country's Executive Agency on Fisheries and Aquaculture is the next one to be moved. It will go from the capital to the Black Sea city of Burgas. However, no date has been specified for the relocation.
