During the past 24 hours Bulgarian firefighters have extinguished close to 300 wildfires across the country.

The wildfires are concentrated in the regions of Sofia, Haskovo, Kyustendil, Burgas and Pazardzhik in the south.

The major forest fire in the eastern part of Rila Mountains is still blazin Saturday, on a territory of about 1700 dekares of forest and alpine shrub.

It is however being contained by the efforts of firefighters and volunteers.

Two other major fires are of sizes 3300 and 2100 dekares are burning in Haskovo region.

There is no danger for towns or villages near any of the wildfires in Bulgaria, according to information by the firefighting service.
