WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange believes that he may have to stay inside the Ecuadorian embassy in London for a year.

"I think this will be solved in between six and 12 months or through the occurrence of an unforeseeable event like the war against Iran, or that the Swedish government archives the case," he commented on his situation in an interview for an Ecuadorian TV channel.

"Among these scenarios I think the latter the least likely," he added.

Earlier this week, Ecuador's President Rafael Correa said the case could take years to resolve and depended on London and Stockholm.

Assange has been staying at Ecuador's embassy in London for more than two months, avoiding extradition to Sweden to answer allegations of "sex crime."

The whistleblower was granted asylum in Ecuador but he still faces arrest the minute he steps out of the embassy building.
