Bulgarian star striker and former Manchester United player has officially joined the UK Fulham football club, according to his agent, Emil Danchev.

Danchev has spoken exclusively for the Bulgarian sports portal Gong.bg late Thursday evening.

Danchev further confirmed that the striker has successfully passed all medical exams and, after four seasons at Old Trafford with Man U, will now continue his professional career with Fulham.

Berbatov was called to Craven Cottage by former coach Martin Jol and decided to complete the move from Manchester United despite interest from the Italian Juventus and Fiorentina.

Jol already has worked with Berbatov as manager of Tottenham and first attracted him there in May 2006 for the price of 10.9 GBP.

UK media write that the current transfer is estimated at anywhere between GBP 5 M.

In 2008, Man U manager Alex Ferguson purchased Berbatov from Tottenham for GPB 30 M.

Berbatov's debut with Fulham is expected as early as Saturday, September 1.

The Bulgarian and his team are expected to give a press conference Sunday to discuss what stood behind the decision.

Berbatov was reportedly on a flight to Florence to sign with Fiorentina when it emerged that he had received an offer from Juventus while other football clubs in Europe were also showing interest in him.

He never even reached Florence for negotiations. In the aftermath, Fiorentina blasted the Bulgarian, saying he did not deserve their jersey, and accused the Turin-based Juventus of trying to steal the player under their nose.

Juventus Director General Giuseppe Marotta rejected the accusations, saying his team made the offer only after learning that Berbatov has decided to not join Fiorentina.

Bulgarian and UK media confirm Marotta's explanation that Berbatov wanted to stay in England because of his family, in what was a life choice not a matter of money. There are a number of unconfirmed reports that his wife Elena did not want to move to Italy and preferred to live in London. One of the cited reasons is that she might be pregnant for the second time.
