The train going between Bulgaria's capital Sofia and the Black Sea city of Varna was evacuated over a fire Wednesday afternoon.
The incident, which is the latest of the frequent train fires at the Bulgarian State Railways BDZ, occurred between the northern city of Pleven and the town of Cherven Bryan, bTV reported.
It is unclear what caused the fire but the causes are usually attributed to the outdated equipment of the BDZ but nobody was reported hurt.
The train passengers were evacuated to the nearby fields, and spend there at least 1.5 hours in uncertainty as to whether they will even be able to continue their trip, the TV channel reports.
As of Wednesday night, there was still no information about the fate of the passengers.
The most severe train fire incident in Bulgaria after 1989 occurred in February 2008 when 9 people were burned alive in the Sofia-Kardam train; not unexpectedly, the Bulgarian courts later failed to find out high-ranking officials responsible for the incident.
