Bulgaria: New Italy Ambassador to Bulgaria Revealed

Marco Conticelli is Italy's new ambassador to Sofia, announced Sunday the Bulgarian News Agency.

Conticelli's candidacy has been approved by both the Bulgarian and Italian governments, and his appointment was revealed by Italy's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Born in 1961, Conticelli graduated in political science in 1985 and has been a career diplomat since 1987.

Initially he worked at the Foreign Affairs Ministry's unit for telecommunications and information coding.

He has worked as expert in Italy's embassies in Khartum, Sudan, and Delhi, India.

In addition, Conticelli has been Italy's consul in Sevilla, Spain, and an expert in Italy's permanent representation in international institutions in Geneva.

Since 2006, he has worked in the Foreign Ministry's EU integration directorate, where since 2011 he has been coordinator for immigration policies in the EU area.
