The raise of pensions in Bulgaria with 7% announced by center-right GERB cabinet is gravely inadequate, argued opposition Bulgarian Socialist Party leader Sergey Stanishev.

At a press conference Tuesday, Stanishev has repeated criticisms against what he sees as an arbitrary and cheating rule by Bulgarian PM Boyko Borisov.

"Boyko Borisov rules the nation as a sultan. He seems to regard it as his very own patrimonium," quipped the socialist leader.

Stanishev brought attention to a recent scandal involving the use of government 28 Crew to illicitly fly around random football teams.

Regarding pensions, Stanishev argued that given rampant raise in commodities prices in Bulgaria during the last few years, a 7% upping is close to an insult.

"As an example for irresponsible work, the cabinet keeps on defending the raise of fuel prices, by lying that they still remain the lowest in the EU - something that is patently not true," said he.

At the press conference, Stanishev also brought attention to what he saw as inadequate state management of Bulgarian sport, which according to him naturally resulted in a very poor performance with only 2 medals at the London 2012 Olympics.
